Questions
How is the hike percentage calculated?
Hike % = (new CTC − current CTC) ÷ current CTC × 100. A move from ₹12 lakh to ₹13.2 lakh is a 10% hike.
What is a real raise?
Your hike after inflation: (1 + hike) ÷ (1 + inflation) − 1. A 10% hike with 5% inflation is a real raise of about 4.76% — that is how much more you can actually buy.
Will my in-hand pay rise by the same %?
Not exactly. PF rises with basic pay and income tax may rise faster because of tax slabs, so take-home pay usually grows a little less than CTC. Use the salary calculator to check.
