Questions
What is the quadratic formula?
x = (−b ± √(b² − 4ac)) ÷ 2a. The part under the root, D = b² − 4ac, is called the discriminant.
What does the discriminant tell me?
D > 0: two different real roots. D = 0: one repeated real root. D < 0: no real roots — two complex (imaginary) roots.
What is the vertex?
The turning point of the parabola y = ax² + bx + c, at x = −b ÷ 2a. It is the minimum when a > 0 and the maximum when a < 0.
