Questions
What is the EPF interest rate?
8.25% a year for FY 2025-26, recommended by the EPFO's Central Board of Trustees and ratified by the government (same as FY 2024-25). The rate is declared every year, so future years may differ.
How are EPF contributions split?
You contribute 12% of basic + DA. Your employer also pays 12%, of which 8.33% goes to the pension scheme (EPS) and 3.67% to EPF. EPS is limited to ₹2,083 a month (8.33% of the ₹25,000 wage ceiling in force since 17 September 2026; it was ₹1,250 on ₹15,000 earlier), so if your basic is above ₹25,000 many employers put the rest of their 12% into EPF — choose “12% minus ₹2,083 EPS” for that.
How is EPF interest calculated?
Interest is worked out every month on the running balance and credited once a year at the end of the financial year. This calculator follows that method and assumes you work till 58.
